While the Milwaukee chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America is disappointed that Derek Beyer will not be moving forward in the MPS School Board, District 8 elections, we are proud of the work of Derek and our members to advance socialism in Milwaukee. Derek’s demonstrated history as a caring teacher driven by a belief in restorative justice and well-funded public schools shows that he will continue to fight to improve MPS and defend students and teachers from the exploitation of neoliberal capitalism. It is only with advocates like Derek that we can achieve the world of just education our community deserves.
