Supervisor Candidate Eric Rorholm Statement on Misspelled Name on Ballots
Second Ballot Issue Arises in District 3 County Supervisor Race
MILWAUKEE, WI – Eric Rorholm, progressive candidate for Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors in District 3, issued a statement following news that his name was misspelled on all District 3 ballots.
“I want to thank elections administrators from both the city and county for being cooperative and transparent from the moment this issue became apparent. Our democracy is under more stress than ever, so it’s important to be transparent and honest about what went wrong.”
“I am concerned that this is the second issue to come to light in just the last few days. We only recently learned that a number of voters in District 3 were sent ballots with the wrong candidates for County Supervisor. My top priority is to ensure that voters are able to vote for their preferred candidate.
“Voters should know that election administrators have stated that ballots cast for the misspelled version of Eric’s name will in fact be counted as votes for Eric Rorholm.
“Anyone with a unique name can relate to having their name misspelled on important documents. In fact, CBS 58 & TMJ4 incorrectly listed my name as ‘Erik Rorholm’ when reporting primary election results. A Journal-Sentinel article captions a photo incorrectly as ‘Eric Borholm.’
“No matter how you spell my name, I am the candidate who will fight for renters and working people on the County Board of Supervisors.”
Eric Rorholm is a democratic socialist running for the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors in District 3, which includes Milwaukee’s East Side, downtown, UW-Milwaukee, Milwaukee School of Engineering, and the Walker’s Point neighborhood. He is endorsed by the Milwaukee Area Labor Council, Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association, Milwaukee Democratic Socialists of America, Wisconsin Working Families Party, Citizen Action WI, and the Wisconsin Muslim Civic Alliance.
